Care
A cleaned coin is usually a damaged coin. Toothpaste, vinegar, baking soda, brushes, and polish cut the surface.
Do
- Hold a coin by the edge.
- Rinse loose dirt with distilled water and dry in air. No soap. No rub.
- Store in an archival album or a capsule. Keep silica in the box, not in the capsule.
- Lay notes flat. Do not fold a fancy serial.
Do not
- Do not clean, dip, or polish a coin.
- Do not use a PVC flip. It sweats and stains.
- Do not leave a note in sun or in a fold.
- Do not treat a catalogue value as an offer.
